Narrative:

We were taxiing out at attaturk, istanbul, turkey (ltba) en route to frankfurt. The active runway was runway 36 and attaturk tower cleared us to 'line up and wait runway 36.' I read the full clearance back and as we began to taxi onto runway 36, a different voice came up on tower frequency (118.1) and told us to hold our position. We were on runway 36 and an air carrier on final went around. We were then cleared for takeoff. I think there was some confusion in the tower and it is difficult to see aircraft on final as an aircraft approachs runway 36 on the taxiway because of the orientation of the taxiway to runway 36.

Title: TWR LCL CTLR CLRED RPTR ON TO RWY IN FRONT OF LNDG TFC.

Narrative: WE WERE TAXIING OUT AT ATTATURK, ISTANBUL, TURKEY (LTBA) ENRTE TO FRANKFURT. THE ACTIVE RWY WAS RWY 36 AND ATTATURK TWR CLRED US TO 'LINE UP AND WAIT RWY 36.' I READ THE FULL CLRNC BACK AND AS WE BEGAN TO TAXI ONTO RWY 36, A DIFFERENT VOICE CAME UP ON TWR FREQ (118.1) AND TOLD US TO HOLD OUR POS. WE WERE ON RWY 36 AND AN ACR ON FINAL WENT AROUND. WE WERE THEN CLRED FOR TKOF. I THINK THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION IN THE TWR AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE ACFT ON FINAL AS AN ACFT APCHS RWY 36 ON THE TXWY BECAUSE OF THE ORIENTATION OF THE TXWY TO RWY 36.
