Narrative:

When I took over the sector I was advised that the frequency in use 132.6 had failed several times and maintenance had been working on it. About 15 mins later the frequency 132.6 failed again (both transmitters and receivers) did not seem to work. The backup emergency radio had loud static on it. I do not believe maintenance did anything to the frequency when they had it the previous times and that I was very lucky that I was not working any traffic when it failed. I would be interested in knowing what, if any, work was done to this frequency at the prior times it was turned over to maintenance.
