Narrative:

En route from jwn at 2000 ft to sightsee near gallatin, tn, (15-20 northeast of bna) receiving flight following from nashville approach and was assigned heading 030 degrees and altitude 2000 ft and squawk code. Near collision with C210 which probably had departed M88 departing to the north. Received no TA from approach. Saw C210 at my 4 O'clock position, I began to climb to 2200 ft to allow the C210 to pass directly underneath my airplane. I then called approach to advise them I had an aircraft in sight near my position. They reported no mode C on the C210. I might suggest lowering the floor of the class C around M88. I was VFR, approach assigned heading and altitude. If you need any additional information please call!
