Narrative:

I was working local control at sjc. I cleared an air carrier X to takeoff runway 12R. When he was about 1 mi southeast of sjc, I cleared another air carrier Y to takeoff runway 12L. I needed 3 mi between these 2 aircraft. I thought that I had enough spacing, but I had only 2.45 mi. The related factor is: I was concerned about disciplinary action being taken by management against me for a different factor. 3 months earlier, I became angry at a coworker. To punish me for my anger, management scheduled a 2 week unpaid suspension for me. The day before my suspension, I was working combined lcls and my mind was on my upcoming suspension and the resulting loss of wages.
