Narrative:

Shortly after takeoff, ATC told us to change transponder code. We complied, then checked pre-departure clearance (pre departure clearance) for assigned squawk. Couldn't find paper, even though all other paperwork was located. We either lost the pre departure clearance or never received it. Ground control and tower never questioned our flight intentions, so I am convinced the pre departure clearance was sent. Supplemental information from acn 207872. One thing that might be done to prevent departing without a pre departure clearance would be to standardize the way pre departure clearance's are acknowledged, such as in ord where you relay your assigned transponder code to clearance delivery. I have modified my procedures to ensure better management of the paperwork so that the pre departure clearance is not misplaced.

Title: ACR FLC APPARENTLY DEPARTS WITHOUT A CLRNC; THEY DID NOT GET THEIR PREDEP CLRNC (PDC).

Narrative: SHORTLY AFTER TKOF, ATC TOLD US TO CHANGE TRANSPONDER CODE. WE COMPLIED, THEN CHKED PRE-DEP CLRNC (PDC) FOR ASSIGNED SQUAWK. COULDN'T FIND PAPER, EVEN THOUGH ALL OTHER PAPERWORK WAS LOCATED. WE EITHER LOST THE PDC OR NEVER RECEIVED IT. GND CTL AND TWR NEVER QUESTIONED OUR FLT INTENTIONS, SO I AM CONVINCED THE PDC WAS SENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 207872. ONE THING THAT MIGHT BE DONE TO PREVENT DEPARTING WITHOUT A PDC WOULD BE TO STANDARDIZE THE WAY PDC'S ARE ACKNOWLEDGED, SUCH AS IN ORD WHERE YOU RELAY YOUR ASSIGNED TRANSPONDER CODE TO CLRNC DELIVERY. I HAVE MODIFIED MY PROCS TO ENSURE BETTER MGMNT OF THE PAPERWORK SO THAT THE PDC IS NOT MISPLACED.
