Narrative:

FL240 approaching djb VOR had just switched to new controller but had not yet made contact. TCASII TA extreme edge of vsi (yellow symbol) 12 O'clock turned into RA (red) at about 2 O'clock. We turned left 240 without clearance in response to TCASII RA. Informed ATC of deviation and reason. Was cleared immediately to 17000. TCASII clear of conflict at 23500. Red TCASII symbol showed +1100 but was unable to see arrow showing climb or descent. Contacted center when on ground. They stated that they had no alert on their end and controller showed no traffic in that position at the time. I'm fairly sure that this was not a fake indication.
