Narrative:

Cleared to FL230. Climbing out on departure from iad en route to den. Approximately 50 DME west of aml on J149 at FL223, we had a 'TA'. I saw on my screen FL220 traffic displayed in yellow diamond at 12 O'clock and 1 mi. I immediately increased our climb rate. The advisory and traffic disappeared. We asked ATC if there was any traffic near us at FL220 and he answered negative. Is this another instance of erroneous TCASII warning or was there really traffic at FL220? We will probably never know will we! Thanks, please add this to your files.
