Narrative:

Upon arrival detroit metropolitan wayne, we were cleared for ILS 21R approach, maintain 3000 ft MSL till intercepting the localizer. While doing so, we were VMC and asked if 21C was available. Approach stated, 'yes, 21C available, contact tower.' calling tower, they stated, 'cleared to land 21C.' I comment on this ATC communications because proper terminology was not used. 'Cleared visual 21C or cleared for sidestep 21C.' pilots are questioned so many times for improper or omitting proper responses, ATC should be held so accountable. After completing a visual approach, this concerned myself as we allowed these improper responses from approach/tower to approve our approach.

Narrative: UPON ARR DETROIT METRO WAYNE, WE WERE CLRED FOR ILS 21R APCH, MAINTAIN 3000 FT MSL TILL INTERCEPTING THE LOC. WHILE DOING SO, WE WERE VMC AND ASKED IF 21C WAS AVAILABLE. APCH STATED, 'YES, 21C AVAILABLE, CONTACT TWR.' CALLING TWR, THEY STATED, 'CLRED TO LAND 21C.' I COMMENT ON THIS ATC COMS BECAUSE PROPER TERMINOLOGY WAS NOT USED. 'CLRED VISUAL 21C OR CLRED FOR SIDESTEP 21C.' PLTS ARE QUESTIONED SO MANY TIMES FOR IMPROPER OR OMITTING PROPER RESPONSES, ATC SHOULD BE HELD SO ACCOUNTABLE. AFTER COMPLETING A VISUAL APCH, THIS CONCERNED MYSELF AS WE ALLOWED THESE IMPROPER RESPONSES FROM APCH/TWR TO APPROVE OUR APCH.
