Narrative:

Departed ewr runway 22R full length. LLWS advisories were in effect. Crew took necessary windshear mitigation measures. Flaps and gear were retracted on schedule during takeoff phase. At approximately 1800AGL we encountered moderate to severe turbulence. The turbulence was severe enough to cause the pilot monitoring (pm) to inadvertently put the gear handle in the down position momentarily while trying to put it to the off position. Pm immediately put gear to up position and continued climb out. No gear over speed. Severe turbulence also caused the pilot flying to exceed SID top altitude (2500AGL) by approximately 300ft. While correcting; ATC cleared us to 6000. During event no windshear warning was encountered. No mandatory 'turbulence' calls were made to cabin because of the phase of flight and all passengers and crew were seated. Captain did advise cabin crew to stay seated until we called to let them know it was safe to get up. Submitted PIREP; made logbook entry and sent message to dispatch per fom directives.
