Narrative:
The previous evening I had returned from a flight at last light and landing my small aircraft on runway 02 at st augustine. Next day I taxied out for takeoff and requested traffic advisory and was informed by unicom that runway 31 was in use. I departed on runway 31. When I returned +/- 45 mins later I again requested runway advisories and on receiving none I broadcast my intention to land on runway 31. As I approached the field I noticed a strong crosswind on runway 31 and that runway 2 was the better runway for me to use. I called my intention to land on runway 2 as the wind was about 020 at 15 KTS. The runway was clear of aircraft so I landed. After I landed I received a message to contact unicom which I did. They informed me that runway 2 had a NOTAM to be closed as of that day and they had tried to call me to let me know. I did not hear them nor did I notice the X on the runway.
