Narrative:

Jax approach advised the crew of an small transport jet that when he had malcom mckinnon airport in sight, he could cancel in the air or on the ground at mckinnon airport. I transmitted 5 seconds later 'or you could cancel now'. Jax approach must not have heard the entire transmission and asked the small transport crew if he was cancelling. The small transport crew said 'negative' and jax approach asked another aircraft if he had made the transmission to which the pilot of the other aircraft replied no. The controller apparently thought it was an unsolicited false cancellation. At this time my flight was cleared for takeoff right after the small transport crew cancelled his IFR clearance. I was going to advise the controller that I had made the transmission of question but decided to clarify after our departure. My intention was to suggest to the small transport crew if he would cancel IFR, we could be released IFR. After departure we were busy flying the aircraft and complying with the departure clearance and with no further queries from the controller, I forgot about trying to clarify what I had actually said.

Title: PIC OF ACR MDT MAKES A CASUAL, DIRECTED RADIO CALL ON APCH FREQ WHICH CONFUSED APCH CTLR AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN OPDEV.

Narrative: JAX APCH ADVISED THE CREW OF AN SMT JET THAT WHEN HE HAD MALCOM MCKINNON ARPT IN SIGHT, HE COULD CANCEL IN THE AIR OR ON THE GND AT MCKINNON ARPT. I TRANSMITTED 5 SECS LATER 'OR YOU COULD CANCEL NOW'. JAX APCH MUST NOT HAVE HEARD THE ENTIRE XMISSION AND ASKED THE SMT CREW IF HE WAS CANCELLING. THE SMT CREW SAID 'NEGATIVE' AND JAX APCH ASKED ANOTHER ACFT IF HE HAD MADE THE XMISSION TO WHICH THE PLT OF THE OTHER ACFT REPLIED NO. THE CTLR APPARENTLY THOUGHT IT WAS AN UNSOLICITED FALSE CANCELLATION. AT THIS TIME MY FLT WAS CLRED FOR TKOF RIGHT AFTER THE SMT CREW CANCELLED HIS IFR CLRNC. I WAS GOING TO ADVISE THE CTLR THAT I HAD MADE THE XMISSION OF QUESTION BUT DECIDED TO CLARIFY AFTER OUR DEP. MY INTENTION WAS TO SUGGEST TO THE SMT CREW IF HE WOULD CANCEL IFR, WE COULD BE RELEASED IFR. AFTER DEP WE WERE BUSY FLYING THE ACFT AND COMPLYING WITH THE DEP CLRNC AND WITH NO FURTHER QUERIES FROM THE CTLR, I FORGOT ABOUT TRYING TO CLARIFY WHAT I HAD ACTUALLY SAID.
