Narrative:
While taxiing to takeoff; we experienced failure of the left brake and ended up having to shut the airplane off. We maneuvered it with a tow bar to a point at which we could properly taxi onto the runway and depart after which we performed a no-brake landing back at ZZZ.

Title: PA-28R instructor pilot reported the left brake failed just before departure. Takeoff was accomplished after positioning the aircraft with the tow bar.
