Narrative:

3/90 on flight mia-ewr we were in mia and during fueling noticed a fuel imbalance. Fueler came to cockpit and asked what I wanted to do. I instructed him to top off both tanks which would give us 20000#, 10000# in each tank. Informed company of taking on additional fuel so as to reflect it on our weight and balance. Tested fuel gauges after fuel was loaded and tested ok. Took off to ewr and on climb out and cruise noticed right aileron input. All fuel gauges were reading correctly and flaps and slats in there up and locked positions. Flight management computer showed no problems either fuel or route of flight. Proceeded along AR7 to ilm. South of ilm received insufficient fuel light. Performed numerous fuel gauge tests and all indicators normal. At one point during fuel test the #2 fuel gauge indicated around 2000# of fuel--less than 1/2 of what #1 tank indicated. Decided to open fuel xfeed as a backup. All along fuel gauge #2 read and indicated about the same as #1 gauge, give or take 100 pounds. I assumed the worst and decided to land in dca for maintenance. While on the ground the #2 fuel gauge indicated 8350 pounds of fuel. Still tested ok and maintenance placarded the #2 fuel gauge inoperative. Proceeded to ewr west/O further incident and #2 fuel gauge reading all along the same as #1.

Narrative: 3/90 ON FLT MIA-EWR WE WERE IN MIA AND DURING FUELING NOTICED A FUEL IMBALANCE. FUELER CAME TO COCKPIT AND ASKED WHAT I WANTED TO DO. I INSTRUCTED HIM TO TOP OFF BOTH TANKS WHICH WOULD GIVE US 20000#, 10000# IN EACH TANK. INFORMED COMPANY OF TAKING ON ADDITIONAL FUEL SO AS TO REFLECT IT ON OUR WT AND BAL. TESTED FUEL GAUGES AFTER FUEL WAS LOADED AND TESTED OK. TOOK OFF TO EWR AND ON CLB OUT AND CRUISE NOTICED RIGHT AILERON INPUT. ALL FUEL GAUGES WERE READING CORRECTLY AND FLAPS AND SLATS IN THERE UP AND LOCKED POSITIONS. FLT MGMNT COMPUTER SHOWED NO PROBS EITHER FUEL OR RTE OF FLT. PROCEEDED ALONG AR7 TO ILM. S OF ILM RECEIVED INSUFFICIENT FUEL LIGHT. ALL ALONG FUEL GAUGE #2 READ AND INDICATED ABOUT THE SAME AS #1 GAUGE, GIVE OR TAKE 100 LBS. I ASSUMED THE WORST AND DECIDED TO LAND IN DCA FOR MAINT. WHILE ON THE GND THE #2 FUEL GAUGE INDICATED 8350 LBS OF FUEL. STILL TESTED OK AND MAINT PLACARDED THE #2 FUEL GAUGE INOP. PROCEEDED TO EWR W/O FURTHER INCIDENT AND #2 FUEL GAUGE READING ALL ALONG THE SAME AS #1.
