Narrative:

I was flying with a spi in the airport traffic pattern at skypark airport, at bountiful, ut. Another aircraft entered the traffic pattern and told me over the radio (on the CTAF) that the tower had told him to tell me to turn my crosswind legs further north (we were using a left traffic pattern for runway 16). According to the other pilot, the length of my takeoff legs were causing me to violate the slc TCA. After reviewing the slc terminal area chart, I am not convinced that I was in violation of the TCA. If I was in violation, however, then the dimensions of the TCA should be adjusted because I was flying what I consider to be a normal and safe traffic pattern and my takeoff legs were not extensive, especially when considering the surrounding terrain. The area surrounding skypark airport is characterized by tall structures associated with an oil refinery, as well as extensive power lines. Therefore, I was climbing straight ahead after departure at vy to an altitude of 400-500' AGL before turning crosswind, which I don't feel is unreasonable. If this did in fact cause a violation of the TCA, then I feel that the dimensions of the existing cut-out for skypark in the slc TCA is unreasonable.

Title: REPORTER COMPLAINS ABOUT CLOSENESS OF TCA AT ADJACENT ARPT TO TRAFFIC PATTERN.

Narrative: I WAS FLYING WITH A SPI IN THE ARPT TFC PATTERN AT SKYPARK ARPT, AT BOUNTIFUL, UT. ANOTHER ACFT ENTERED THE TFC PATTERN AND TOLD ME OVER THE RADIO (ON THE CTAF) THAT THE TWR HAD TOLD HIM TO TELL ME TO TURN MY XWIND LEGS FURTHER N (WE WERE USING A LEFT TFC PATTERN FOR RWY 16). ACCORDING TO THE OTHER PLT, THE LENGTH OF MY TKOF LEGS WERE CAUSING ME TO VIOLATE THE SLC TCA. AFTER REVIEWING THE SLC TERMINAL AREA CHART, I AM NOT CONVINCED THAT I WAS IN VIOLATION OF THE TCA. IF I WAS IN VIOLATION, HOWEVER, THEN THE DIMENSIONS OF THE TCA SHOULD BE ADJUSTED BECAUSE I WAS FLYING WHAT I CONSIDER TO BE A NORMAL AND SAFE TFC PATTERN AND MY TKOF LEGS WERE NOT EXTENSIVE, ESPECIALLY WHEN CONSIDERING THE SURROUNDING TERRAIN. THE AREA SURROUNDING SKYPARK ARPT IS CHARACTERIZED BY TALL STRUCTURES ASSOCIATED WITH AN OIL REFINERY, AS WELL AS EXTENSIVE PWR LINES. THEREFORE, I WAS CLBING STRAIGHT AHEAD AFTER DEP AT VY TO AN ALT OF 400-500' AGL BEFORE TURNING XWIND, WHICH I DON'T FEEL IS UNREASONABLE. IF THIS DID IN FACT CAUSE A VIOLATION OF THE TCA, THEN I FEEL THAT THE DIMENSIONS OF THE EXISTING CUT-OUT FOR SKYPARK IN THE SLC TCA IS UNREASONABLE.
