Narrative:

This after landing incident proves the old saying about how 'it ain't over 'till the fat lady sings'. After successfully dodging trw from phx to maf and maf to lbb at night, supervising the first officer's handling of the latter leg, I managed to exit runway 8 onto taxiway H, which happens to be 'restr to aircraft 50,000 pounds or less', and is unlit. Except for damaged pride, no apparent harm done although the controller opined that had it been a hot afternoon we would have found ourselves 'sunk up to (our) hubcaps'. Just as this jewel of wisdom was handed down from the tower, I saw the restriction on the airport diagram. Needless to say I should have seen it sooner (say, before landing), but I had been distracted by the prospect of a non-precision (bd localizer) approach to runway 35L with a circling maneuver for runway 8, with 40-plus KT xwinds on the back course, and the possibilities of windshear, missed approach, and diversion. Contributing factors: no sign to ward off unsuspecting transport pilots, and no instructions from the controller, only 'taxi to parking, good night' during landing rollout.

Title: ACFT TURNED OFF OF ACTIVE RWY AFTER LNDG ONTO TXWY NOT STRESSED FOR THE ACFT WEIGHT.

Narrative: THIS AFTER LNDG INCIDENT PROVES THE OLD SAYING ABOUT HOW 'IT AIN'T OVER 'TILL THE FAT LADY SINGS'. AFTER SUCCESSFULLY DODGING TRW FROM PHX TO MAF AND MAF TO LBB AT NIGHT, SUPERVISING THE F/O'S HANDLING OF THE LATTER LEG, I MANAGED TO EXIT RWY 8 ONTO TXWY H, WHICH HAPPENS TO BE 'RESTR TO ACFT 50,000 LBS OR LESS', AND IS UNLIT. EXCEPT FOR DAMAGED PRIDE, NO APPARENT HARM DONE ALTHOUGH THE CTLR OPINED THAT HAD IT BEEN A HOT AFTERNOON WE WOULD HAVE FOUND OURSELVES 'SUNK UP TO (OUR) HUBCAPS'. JUST AS THIS JEWEL OF WISDOM WAS HANDED DOWN FROM THE TWR, I SAW THE RESTRICTION ON THE ARPT DIAGRAM. NEEDLESS TO SAY I SHOULD HAVE SEEN IT SOONER (SAY, BEFORE LNDG), BUT I HAD BEEN DISTRACTED BY THE PROSPECT OF A NON-PRECISION (BD LOC) APCH TO RWY 35L WITH A CIRCLING MANEUVER FOR RWY 8, WITH 40-PLUS KT XWINDS ON THE BACK COURSE, AND THE POSSIBILITIES OF WINDSHEAR, MISSED APCH, AND DIVERSION. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: NO SIGN TO WARD OFF UNSUSPECTING TRANSPORT PLTS, AND NO INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE CTLR, ONLY 'TAXI TO PARKING, GOOD NIGHT' DURING LNDG ROLLOUT.
