Narrative:

I contact ground control for taxi clearance. Ground control cleared me to taxi runway 36 for intersection takeoff. I told the ground controller that I did not want an intersection takeoff. He then cleared me to back taxi on runway 35. While backtaxiing on our runway 36, I would have to cross runway 6R. Upon our approaching runway 6R and looking both ways, I did see an aircraft sitting on 6R, so I said to myself that that aircraft was going to hold for takeoff. Upon our entering the intersection of runway 36 and 6R, the aircraft did start his takeoff roll. By this time it was too late for me to stop. After crossing the runway the ground controller told me that he had told me to hold short of runway 6R 2 or 3 times, but I did not hear him. 1) I think that I must have been in a dead spot or the ground controller had a bad microphone, and that ground control and the tower operator should communicate better, and that the ground controller should make sure that I did hear him. 2) I think maybe the ground controller should never clear an aircraft to back taxi where you have to cross another runway and that there should be less background noise in the tower.

Title: BACK TAXI ON RWY WHICH INTERSECTS ACTIVE RWY. DID NOT HOLD, CROSSED RWY AS ACFT DEPARTING.

Narrative: I CONTACT GND CTL FOR TAXI CLRNC. GND CTL CLRED ME TO TAXI RWY 36 FOR INTXN TKOF. I TOLD THE GND CTLR THAT I DID NOT WANT AN INTXN TKOF. HE THEN CLRED ME TO BACK TAXI ON RWY 35. WHILE BACKTAXIING ON OUR RWY 36, I WOULD HAVE TO CROSS RWY 6R. UPON OUR APCHING RWY 6R AND LOOKING BOTH WAYS, I DID SEE AN ACFT SITTING ON 6R, SO I SAID TO MYSELF THAT THAT ACFT WAS GOING TO HOLD FOR TKOF. UPON OUR ENTERING THE INTXN OF RWY 36 AND 6R, THE ACFT DID START HIS TKOF ROLL. BY THIS TIME IT WAS TOO LATE FOR ME TO STOP. AFTER XING THE RWY THE GND CTLR TOLD ME THAT HE HAD TOLD ME TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 6R 2 OR 3 TIMES, BUT I DID NOT HEAR HIM. 1) I THINK THAT I MUST HAVE BEEN IN A DEAD SPOT OR THE GND CTLR HAD A BAD MIC, AND THAT GND CTL AND THE TWR OPERATOR SHOULD COMMUNICATE BETTER, AND THAT THE GND CTLR SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT I DID HEAR HIM. 2) I THINK MAYBE THE GND CTLR SHOULD NEVER CLR AN ACFT TO BACK TAXI WHERE YOU HAVE TO CROSS ANOTHER RWY AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE LESS BACKGROUND NOISE IN THE TWR.
