Narrative:

Holding short of 36R in mem. Instrument approachs in progress. Tower: 'air carrier X bif taxi into position and hold runway 36R.' pilot: 'taxi into position and hold 36R.' tower: no response. As we were nosing onto the runway, tower: 'air carrier X bif you are holding short of 36R?' pilot: 'no, bif was cleared into position and hold on 36R.' tower: 'air carrier bif you were not cleared into position. Air carrier X bh was cleared into position runway 36L, air carrier Y '?' go around.' air carrier Y: 'going around.' tower: 'continue into position and hold runway 36R.' pilot: 'air carrier X bif position and hold.' tower said he heard a carrier when he cleared air carrier X bh into position. He didn't realize it was I returning the message. No further incident happened. We continued to dtw with no problem. All above information is as correct as I remember. Controller avoided a possible incident, handled it well.

ACR X BH WAS CLRED INTO POS RWY 36L, ACR Y '?' GO AROUND.' ACR Y: 'GOING AROUND.' TWR: 'CONTINUE INTO POS AND HOLD RWY 36R.' PLT: 'ACR X BIF POS AND HOLD.' TWR SAID HE HEARD A CARRIER WHEN HE CLRED ACR X BH INTO POS. HE DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS I RETURNING THE MESSAGE. NO FURTHER INCIDENT HAPPENED. WE CONTINUED TO DTW WITH NO PROB. ALL ABOVE INFO IS AS CORRECT AS I REMEMBER. CTLR AVOIDED A POSSIBLE INCIDENT, HANDLED IT WELL.
