Narrative:

We pushed back from G concourse at mia. Then clearance was taxiing to runway 9L via taxiway Q. As I approached runway 12/30 on taxiway Q6 I could not see a sign for taxiway Q. I asked the copilot if he saw it anywhere. He was nonresponsive. I apparently became disoriented because I mistook the runway 9R parallel taxiway on the other side of runway 12/30 for taxiway Q. In my mind at the time I thought, if we are cleared to Q, we are cleared across runway 12/30. I saw the lights of an aircraft that appeared to be holding in position for us on runway 12 and expedited across. I got my orientation back as we cleared runway 12 and set the brakes to get further instructions from ground. He was calling us then. Supplemental information from acn 98364: both the captain and first officer are new to the aircraft. I had just completed initial operating experience 17 days before and this was the first trip (second leg for the day) since that time. Night time operations at large and not so familiar airport. Had I not violated one of my own rules, that is, having an airport diagram out in plain view, I don't believe this incident would have happened.

Title: ACR LGT NON ADHERENCE TO ATC CLRNC UNAUTH RWY CROSSING TAXIING OUT FOR TKOF.

Narrative: WE PUSHED BACK FROM G CONCOURSE AT MIA. THEN CLRNC WAS TAXIING TO RWY 9L VIA TXWY Q. AS I APCHED RWY 12/30 ON TXWY Q6 I COULD NOT SEE A SIGN FOR TXWY Q. I ASKED THE COPLT IF HE SAW IT ANYWHERE. HE WAS NONRESPONSIVE. I APPARENTLY BECAME DISORIENTED BECAUSE I MISTOOK THE RWY 9R PARALLEL TXWY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF RWY 12/30 FOR TXWY Q. IN MY MIND AT THE TIME I THOUGHT, IF WE ARE CLRED TO Q, WE ARE CLRED ACROSS RWY 12/30. I SAW THE LIGHTS OF AN ACFT THAT APPEARED TO BE HOLDING IN POS FOR US ON RWY 12 AND EXPEDITED ACROSS. I GOT MY ORIENTATION BACK AS WE CLRED RWY 12 AND SET THE BRAKES TO GET FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS FROM GND. HE WAS CALLING US THEN. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 98364: BOTH THE CAPT AND F/O ARE NEW TO THE ACFT. I HAD JUST COMPLETED INITIAL OPERATING EXPERIENCE 17 DAYS BEFORE AND THIS WAS THE FIRST TRIP (SECOND LEG FOR THE DAY) SINCE THAT TIME. NIGHT TIME OPS AT LARGE AND NOT SO FAMILIAR ARPT. HAD I NOT VIOLATED ONE OF MY OWN RULES, THAT IS, HAVING AN ARPT DIAGRAM OUT IN PLAIN VIEW, I DON'T BELIEVE THIS INCIDENT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED.
