Narrative:

The FBO ramp at the springfield/branson; sgf airport does not allow movement from the self service fuel station to general parking without taxi onto a controlled movement area; even though there is pavement that allows it. I was fueling my airplane after landing and upon engine start I needed to taxi to parking for the night. I was unable to contact springfield ground; even after numerous attempts for authorization to taxi about 500 ft on a controlled movement taxiway. The paved area that would allow movement without ATC authorization had signage indicating 'no aircraft.' this needs correction to enable aircraft movement from fuel area to parking without ATC authorization. This should be a simple change in signage. This did not result in any incident of any kind and could be easily corrected.
