Narrative:

First officer completed preflight of aircraft for red eye flight. Baggage personnel came up to cockpit; they noted the forward cargo compartment panel appeared bowed in slightly; I believe it was over pressure relief panel. First officer re inspected panel; noted tape on it; and [that the] end was bowed slightly. We assumed it had been repaired; noting the tape on the panel. I wrote the panel up upon arrival at destination; as it was a maintenance base; to have panel double checked. I was informed several hours later the panel needed to be repaired.
