Narrative:

In cruise flight at FL330 observed an 'air burst' dead ahead range 3-5 mi. We were just south of J-58 having deviated, with permission, around a C.B. I knew the airspace north of J-58 was 'hot' but not why. When I inquired of ATC they advised that a naval ship was in the area but not firing at this time. I reported the air burst to ATC and to airlines. We were on top of a solid undercast and between thunderstorms. The air burst was at FL330 and passed by our starboard wing at our level and perhaps a mi away. No evasive action taken. I then found out that the uss wisconsin was directly below us and had been firing her 5 inch guns. I only saw one air burst.
