Narrative:

Aircraft was on northwest heading towards aqn VOR and climbing to FL230. Out of FL205, was told to level at FL210 by hou center and to contact ft worth center. On initial contact, was given clearance to FL230. At 21,500', was asked our assigned altitude and other aircraft on a southeasterly heading at FL220 was given immediate left turn. We were given immediate left turn and immediate descent to FL210. During turn, we had visual contact with other aircraft and were well clear (5-6 mis). Apparently controller cleared our aircraft to FL230 when there was conflicting aircraft at FL220. Supplemental information from acn 92275. Leaving FL195, hou reclred us to FL210 and gave us a frequency change. Changed frequencys and reported level at FL210. Controller acknowledged our call and reclred us to FL230. We acknowledged clearance to FL230 and started slow climb to FL230. Controller's next call to another aircraft requesting his altitude. Aircraft's reply was level FL220. Controller immediately gave him a large immediate right turn and asked us what our altitude clearance was. Our reply was, we had a clearance to FL230 and we were leaving FL215. From the tone of the controller's voice and his previous clearance to the other aircraft, I knew some sort of conflict existed and we stopped our climb to FL215. Controller's reply to us was turn left to 280 degrees immediately and descend to FL210 and report level. We turned and started our descent to FL210 and reported when level. The 280 degree heading was held for approximately one (1) min, then we were cleared direct action. Remainder of the flight was routine.

Title: WDB GIVEN CLIMB TO FL 230 UPON INITIAL CONTACT WITH ZFW ARTCC. LATER ALT CHECK WAS MADE WITH TRAFFIC AND THE WDB AND BOTH ACFT GIVEN TURNS AND WDB DESCENDED TO FL 210.

Narrative: ACFT WAS ON NW HDG TOWARDS AQN VOR AND CLBING TO FL230. OUT OF FL205, WAS TOLD TO LEVEL AT FL210 BY HOU CENTER AND TO CONTACT FT WORTH CENTER. ON INITIAL CONTACT, WAS GIVEN CLRNC TO FL230. AT 21,500', WAS ASKED OUR ASSIGNED ALT AND OTHER ACFT ON A SOUTHEASTERLY HDG AT FL220 WAS GIVEN IMMEDIATE LEFT TURN. WE WERE GIVEN IMMEDIATE LEFT TURN AND IMMEDIATE DSCNT TO FL210. DURING TURN, WE HAD VISUAL CONTACT WITH OTHER ACFT AND WERE WELL CLR (5-6 MIS). APPARENTLY CTLR CLRED OUR ACFT TO FL230 WHEN THERE WAS CONFLICTING ACFT AT FL220. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 92275. LEAVING FL195, HOU RECLRED US TO FL210 AND GAVE US A FREQ CHANGE. CHANGED FREQS AND RPTED LEVEL AT FL210. CTLR ACKNOWLEDGED OUR CALL AND RECLRED US TO FL230. WE ACKNOWLEDGED CLRNC TO FL230 AND STARTED SLOW CLB TO FL230. CTLR'S NEXT CALL TO ANOTHER ACFT REQUESTING HIS ALT. ACFT'S REPLY WAS LEVEL FL220. CTLR IMMEDIATELY GAVE HIM A LARGE IMMEDIATE RIGHT TURN AND ASKED US WHAT OUR ALT CLRNC WAS. OUR REPLY WAS, WE HAD A CLRNC TO FL230 AND WE WERE LEAVING FL215. FROM THE TONE OF THE CTLR'S VOICE AND HIS PREVIOUS CLRNC TO THE OTHER ACFT, I KNEW SOME SORT OF CONFLICT EXISTED AND WE STOPPED OUR CLB TO FL215. CTLR'S REPLY TO US WAS TURN LEFT TO 280 DEGS IMMEDIATELY AND DSND TO FL210 AND RPT LEVEL. WE TURNED AND STARTED OUR DSCNT TO FL210 AND RPTED WHEN LEVEL. THE 280 DEG HDG WAS HELD FOR APPROX ONE (1) MIN, THEN WE WERE CLRED DIRECT ACTION. REMAINDER OF THE FLT WAS ROUTINE.
