Narrative:

After rigging the right engine on a crj-200 aircraft I removed the scale and pointer from the engine. I was not the one who installed the equipment and did not realize that there was a stand-off that needed to be removed. When I heard that a part was missing that was needed to rig the engine I asked what was missing and informed the supervisor that I had not removed it from the engine that I had rigged. We then set in motion action to have it removed where it was having maintenance done. [I suggest to] have everyone who uses the equipment be trained in the use of it.
