Narrative:

After being cleared for takeoff (runway 24L) the F/a's were not quite ready to roll. Therefore we advised tower it would be just a minute. Then immediately we corrected that by saying it would be 30 seconds. Approximately 10-15 seconds later we started our takeoff roll. An aircraft landing on runway 24R was beginning to take the high speed turnoff. I had the medium large transport in sight. At approximately 60 KTS, tower attempted to cancel our takeoff clearance. They were partially blocked, so I asked who cancelled, and they responded my call sign. I stopped the takeoff, easily cleared the runway, taxied back for takeoff. Briefing the passenger, F/a's, we continued the flight normally. Tower training was in progress, and they should have cancelled our takeoff clearance after we said there would be a short delay. I talked to the tower supervisor after landing in phx to clarify the situation.

Title: ACR MLG TKOF CLRNC CANCELLED AND TKOF ABORTED WHEN MLG LNDG ON PARALLEL APPEARED TO BE GOING TO INTRUDE ON TKOF RWY.

Narrative: AFTER BEING CLRED FOR TKOF (RWY 24L) THE F/A'S WERE NOT QUITE READY TO ROLL. THEREFORE WE ADVISED TWR IT WOULD BE JUST A MINUTE. THEN IMMEDIATELY WE CORRECTED THAT BY SAYING IT WOULD BE 30 SECS. APPROX 10-15 SECS LATER WE STARTED OUR TKOF ROLL. AN ACFT LNDG ON RWY 24R WAS BEGINNING TO TAKE THE HIGH SPD TURNOFF. I HAD THE MLG IN SIGHT. AT APPROX 60 KTS, TWR ATTEMPTED TO CANCEL OUR TKOF CLRNC. THEY WERE PARTIALLY BLOCKED, SO I ASKED WHO CANCELLED, AND THEY RESPONDED MY CALL SIGN. I STOPPED THE TKOF, EASILY CLRED THE RWY, TAXIED BACK FOR TKOF. BRIEFING THE PAX, F/A'S, WE CONTINUED THE FLT NORMALLY. TWR TRNING WAS IN PROGRESS, AND THEY SHOULD HAVE CANCELLED OUR TKOF CLRNC AFTER WE SAID THERE WOULD BE A SHORT DELAY. I TALKED TO THE TWR SUPVR AFTER LNDG IN PHX TO CLARIFY THE SITUATION.
