Narrative:

After receiving our IFR clearance we had a two minute clearance void time. We made a radio call on the CTAF frequency. We did not hear any response and went to check the tower frequency to make sure that there were no planes inbound transitioning through the class C airspace. Checked final and saw no one. We took off and went over to approach to get traffic advisories for the busy area. When we were on with approach we noticed that there was a plane slightly behind us that appeared to be in the traffic pattern going around. They must have been in the traffic pattern because ATC never advised us of them and we never heard them in the traffic pattern.
