Narrative:

Approaching the hold short at the runway the raas started blaring at the same time that tower began a transmission that started with '.......(unintelligible due to raas announcement) .... Takeoff.' we requested a repeat of what tower had said; whatever it might have been; and discovered that tower had been attempting to clear us for takeoff. Remove.the.raas.from.our.aircraft.

Title: A B737 Captain reported a takeoff clearance was blocked by the RAAS system warning.

Narrative: Approaching the hold short at the runway the RAAS started blaring at the same time that Tower began a transmission that started with '.......(unintelligible due to RAAS announcement) .... takeoff.' We requested a repeat of what Tower had said; whatever it might have been; and discovered that Tower had been attempting to clear us for takeoff. REMOVE.THE.RAAS.FROM.OUR.AIRCRAFT.
