Narrative:

We were at cruise altitude 350 prior to descent into las and when we heard ATC call us he stated he had called 'several times' unanswered. He then gave us a vector about 90 degrees off course. On assigned heading he cleared us to FL300. His transmission on that call was intermittent and I had to clarify altitude again. We descended per clearance and were handed off to the next lax center frequency. It could be that we just didn't hear the calls from ATC or that not all calls were actually transmitted for us to hear. We should be more alert and listen more closely for call sign.
