Narrative:

While cruising at FL370 80 mi west of ZZZ; we heard a 'thump' sound which was followed by a moderate electrical smell in the cockpit followed by a blower fan fault ECAM. We donned oxygen and the first officer performed the smoke/fumes checklist. We contacted dispatch and started a descent for ZZZ airport. Once the blower fan switch was placed to the override position; the fumes started to dissipate shortly afterward. After approximately 10 mins we were able to remove our oxygen masks and a normal approach; landing and taxi to ZZZ ensued. Maintenance confirmed the blower fan had failed and was the cause for the smell. It was deferred and we continued to our original destination.
