Narrative:

On short taxi out; headings check ok. I did not check runway heading taking the runway; but captain says they checked ok. Immediately after takeoff; both compasses were 90 degrees off actual heading (dfw runway 17R departure; both headings reading 270 degrees). Both IRS att #1 and IRS att #2 blue lights on annunciator panel. Did not declare emergency. Return to dfw via visual approach to runway 17C. Maintenance unable to fix problem. Aircraft OTS. Changed equipment.
