Narrative:

Dispatched with #1 pack inoperative. At cruise altitude; lost #2 pack. ECAM message pack #1 and #2 failure. Emergency descent to 10000 ft; donned masks; notified ATC; advised flight attendants. Emergency descent to 10000 ft cabin altitude maximum at 13500 ft. No masks in back deployed. Overweight landing in ZZZ1 (returned to ZZZ1) crash fire rescue equipment trucks to meet aircraft; landed longest runway. Landed 7600 pounds overweight uneventful landing. This was the second emergency declared in 3 days. Lost hydraulics out of ZZZ2 2 days prior and diverted to ZZZ3 with overweight landing. First officer and myself frazzled on arrival back to ZZZ1. Could not believe 2 emergencys declared in 3 days. Upon discussion with first officer; we thought in the interest of safety we should not continue on to ZZZ4; in a new aircraft; where we would be landing at XA00 or XB00 in the morning. Both of us were up in ZZZ3 on our layover at XA00 am and knew by the time we would land in ZZZ4 we would be exhausted; especially after the preceding events. Talked to flight duty manager who advised us that a system controller was very upset we were not continuing on to ZZZ4. I was shocked we were not getting a 'job well done' but being chastised for leaving the passenger in ZZZ1. Spoke to assist chief pilot in ZZZ1 who was extremely supportive as well as the ZZZ4 chief pilot who was extremely supportive. Called system scheduler in ZZZ1 to explain safety of my crew and passenger is my #1 priority and I was sorry for the situation but once again I was exhausted and in no frame of mind to continue on to ZZZ4.
