Narrative:

Mechanic came to me and explained that he may have incorrectly re-pinned the wrong connector on a lavatory light ballast as per engineering order. Mechanic said that he believes that 2 other mechanics may have done the same thing and they did not know which aircraft they may have done. I informed all 3 to review the file and find out which aircraft they had performed the engineering order on. I followed up with mechanic that morning and they found out which aircraft they believe they incorrectly pinned. I thought we were good at that point; but I see my mistake now. I failed to contact maintenance control and inform them of the problem. My big mistake was to assume this was minor in nature and maintenance control did not need to be notified. I should have let maintenance control make that decision.
