Narrative:

On ILS runway 18R at cvg; flaps at 20 degrees; speed 180 KTS. Passed krthy; I called for gear down and flaps to 30 degrees. Flaps fail caution message came on when the first officer moved flap handle. I performed a go around while the first officer contacted tower. We got radar vectors around to the north while the first officer performed the QRH procedures. Got a little confused by the flaps failing at a reference position. Made an announcement to the passenger. Proceeded back to cvg for an uneventful landing.
