Narrative:

I was the first officer. We had maintenance on board as I finished the exterior preflight. I was informed by the captain that we had MEL's concerning the fuel impending bypass and the fuel quantity gauges. The captain noticed that the fuel quantity gauges were operational and questioned the maintenance about the MEL's. He said we were good to go and a mechanic must ride with us to clear the item at destination so we could return. I reviewed the logbook but I did not review the MEL's in the book and I was unaware that the MEL's could not be issued together. I was informed that a dispatcher found the problem and filed a report and I should also file one. Cause: I trusted the mechanic and I let the captain review the MEL book and I did not review it myself.
