Narrative:

I was helping another mechanic by servicing the left engine oil. I svced the engine with 4 pints of oil and then closed the cap and access panel. I cleaned the oil access door with a rag of some oil I had spilled. After the work was completed the access panel was secured close to the best of my knowledge.

Title: AN EMB145 WAS DISPATCHED WITH THE L OIL SVC DOOR NOT SECURED. DOOR DEPARTED ACFT INCURRING COWLING DAMAGE.

Narrative: I WAS HELPING ANOTHER MECH BY SVCING THE L ENG OIL. I SVCED THE ENG WITH 4 PINTS OF OIL AND THEN CLOSED THE CAP AND ACCESS PANEL. I CLEANED THE OIL ACCESS DOOR WITH A RAG OF SOME OIL I HAD SPILLED. AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETED THE ACCESS PANEL WAS SECURED CLOSE TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE.
