Narrative:

The PF spotted and took evasive action around an ultralight on the final approach course at the GS intercept altitude. This occurred during the frequency change to local. I advised tower of the conflict and he said that the ultralight had us in sight and that it was told to descend. There was no TCAS target or alerts. General thoughts: aircraft should not be crossing the final at the intercept altitude. With today's technology; all aircraft should have a mode C transponder. A 40 KT ultralight cannot maneuver out of the way of a 170 KT jet.
