Narrative:
Aircraft was in for a maintenance base visit. A non routine work card stated that an operations check of the captain's clock was to be performed. The non routine work card did not mention any task reference or if it was an annual; unscheduled; or special request check. I was unaware that this operations check was an annual check and that the work card was to be used as neither indicated. I used the amm reference to complete this task and signed the non routine work card.

Narrative: ACFT WAS IN FOR A MAINT BASE VISIT. A NON ROUTINE WORK CARD STATED THAT AN OPS CHK OF THE CAPT'S CLOCK WAS TO BE PERFORMED. THE NON ROUTINE WORK CARD DID NOT MENTION ANY TASK REF OR IF IT WAS AN ANNUAL; UNSCHEDULED; OR SPECIAL REQUEST CHK. I WAS UNAWARE THAT THIS OPS CHK WAS AN ANNUAL CHK AND THAT THE WORK CARD WAS TO BE USED AS NEITHER INDICATED. I USED THE AMM REF TO COMPLETE THIS TASK AND SIGNED THE NON ROUTINE WORK CARD.
