Narrative:

During the review of the weight and balance and hazmat paperwork; I discovered that oxygen was loaded together with paint and other flammable liquids in position #34. I questioned the load supervisor as to how the materials were packaged and placed in the cargo compartment. He stated that he did not know; but he would find out. He left the flight deck and returned a short time later and said that the oxygen was loaded by the door and that it was separated from the flammable material by luggage and that it was secure. He also confirmed that the oxygen was packaged in approved containers. Based on this information; I accepted the flight and proceeded to dec. Upon arrival at dec; I asked the mechanic to verify the items loaded in position #34 for location and security; to ensure that the flight could continue safely. This request was made due to the nature of the hazmats being carried. The mechanic returned to the flight deck after some time with the gateway manager and informed us that the flammable materials were placed directly on top of the oxygen. The gateway manager had taken photographs for his report and showed them to us. The mechanic properly separated the hazmats.

Title: B757 FLT CREW HAS HAZMAT LOADED AND UPON LNDG HAS THE LOCATION OF THE LOAD CHK. HAZMAT FOUND TO BE LOADED INCORRECTLY AND IN A DANGEROUS LOCATION.

Narrative: DURING THE REVIEW OF THE WT AND BAL AND HAZMAT PAPERWORK; I DISCOVERED THAT OXYGEN WAS LOADED TOGETHER WITH PAINT AND OTHER FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS IN POS #34. I QUESTIONED THE LOAD SUPVR AS TO HOW THE MATERIALS WERE PACKAGED AND PLACED IN THE CARGO COMPARTMENT. HE STATED THAT HE DID NOT KNOW; BUT HE WOULD FIND OUT. HE LEFT THE FLT DECK AND RETURNED A SHORT TIME LATER AND SAID THAT THE OXYGEN WAS LOADED BY THE DOOR AND THAT IT WAS SEPARATED FROM THE FLAMMABLE MATERIAL BY LUGGAGE AND THAT IT WAS SECURE. HE ALSO CONFIRMED THAT THE OXYGEN WAS PACKAGED IN APPROVED CONTAINERS. BASED ON THIS INFO; I ACCEPTED THE FLT AND PROCEEDED TO DEC. UPON ARR AT DEC; I ASKED THE MECH TO VERIFY THE ITEMS LOADED IN POS #34 FOR LOCATION AND SECURITY; TO ENSURE THAT THE FLT COULD CONTINUE SAFELY. THIS REQUEST WAS MADE DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE HAZMATS BEING CARRIED. THE MECH RETURNED TO THE FLT DECK AFTER SOME TIME WITH THE GATEWAY MGR AND INFORMED US THAT THE FLAMMABLE MATERIALS WERE PLACED DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE OXYGEN. THE GATEWAY MGR HAD TAKEN PHOTOGRAPHS FOR HIS RPT AND SHOWED THEM TO US. THE MECH PROPERLY SEPARATED THE HAZMATS.
