Narrative:

On the jesse 1 arrival into phx we were assigned to descend to 10000 ft. After descending we decided that with the terrain we were a little low. I consulted the charts while watching the taws. Meanwhile; the controller told us to maintain 11000 ft. This altitude was correct (normal) for the arrival. He never said anything more about it. But myself and my first officer believe we were assigned 10000 ft. While I believe that we were conscious of our surroundings on the taws and the charts; next time I will immediately query a controller; if I believe an altitude to be in error.
