Narrative:
On the nelyn 2 departure given a left turn direct nelyn shortly after takeoff. Taken off RNAV departure. Went heading select for the approximately 180 degree turn. Turned direct to nelyn. About the time I was going to select navigation we had a frequency change. Forgot to select navigation for a minute or two. I noticed we were drifting slightly left of track. Was already correcting back; close to being back on track; when controller gave us direct to hoary. I do not believe we were much off course; but I should have not been distracted by the frequency change. I will stay more vigilant; especially after a long day.

Narrative: ON THE NELYN 2 DEP GIVEN A L TURN DIRECT NELYN SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF. TAKEN OFF RNAV DEP. WENT HEADING SELECT FOR THE APPROX 180 DEG TURN. TURNED DIRECT TO NELYN. I WILL STAY MORE VIGILANT; ESPECIALLY AFTER A LONG DAY.
