Narrative:
ZZZ maintenance called maintenance operations controller to issue MEL and maintenance operations controller issued MEL to 2 aircraft (X and Y). Ship X was issued MEL 24-5 requesting APU to be operated during entire flight; and then ship Y was issued MEL 49-2 restricting APU bleed to be used. The captain called on flight XXX to advise the MEL and maintenance log sheet do not match nor make sense. Aircraft Y should have had the engine generator deferred and run APU while aircraft X should have had the APU bleed deferred. Now one sees the concern for the aircraft which has a bleed problem is requested use of APU while the aircraft that needs APU is being advised it is unavailable. Furthermore; additional fuel is required for the 24-5 MEL APU constant use and may not have been planned for or available. This was a great concern and safeguards need to be in place or followed to prevent a serious problem from occurring.
