Narrative:

On rollout after landing on runway 15 at ism; the tower requested that we expedite down to the next taxiway and exit at taxiway az. Both myself and the first officer thought we heard 'taxi to the ramp.' after exiting the runway at taxiway az; we made the turn north on taxiway a; after turning on taxiway a we noticed a C172 making the turn onto taxiway a; sbound at taxiway B; approximately 2500 ft apart. At this time we stopped and asked tower if they needed us to talk to ground. He responded 'yes.' we contacted ground control; and immediately he was belligerent with us. He read us the riot act. He was yelling at us on the ground control frequency. I am a very safe and regulation conscious pilot. If I was at fault; I am sorry; but no one deserves to be degraded on the radio like that. At the FBO the ground controller approached our aircraft in front of our passenger and continued to deliver a hateful tongue lashing of how wrong we were. This type of behavior is wrong for aviation.
