Normal approach to landing opl; day VFR in tailwheel biplane. Computerized WX brief obtained at departure in eastern texas. Airport runway 6/24 at opl has long-term obstructions completely across runway -- not visible from flight. No visible indication of runway closure. Obstruction is midway down runway. Called airport advisory on unicom at 10 mi out; 5 mi out; and overhead. Did not receive a reply even though airport was manned. Never advised of runway closure. FBO advised that airport manager will not permit them to transmit advisories.
