Narrative:

After departure from ZZZ both FMC's failed. Unable to continue on tracks. Specifically both FMC's locked up in standby one prompt, switching to alternate FMC had no effect. Contacted maintenance control and dispatch after reviewing all normal and abnormal procedures. Based on maintenance control and dispatch advice, elected to return to ZZZ. As per FM part #1 declared emergency and returned for overweight landing. Overweight landing successful within published parameters. After landing, had arff follow to gate and check brakes. Maintenance took plane OTS.
