Narrative:
After escape slide pack was installed the mechanic told me he didn't think he hooked up the lanyard properly. At that point I started corrective action by having the aircraft tracked and checked to see if this was actually true. The lanyard was not attached correctly. The installation occurred on oct/fri/04.

Title: AN MD80 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH A TAIL DOOR ESCAPE SLIDE INSTALLED IMPROPERLY.
Narrative: AFTER ESCAPE SLIDE PACK WAS INSTALLED THE MECH TOLD ME HE DIDN'T THINK HE HOOKED UP THE LANYARD PROPERLY. AT THAT POINT I STARTED CORRECTIVE ACTION BY HAVING THE ACFT TRACKED AND CHKED TO SEE IF THIS WAS ACTUALLY TRUE. THE LANYARD WAS NOT ATTACHED CORRECTLY. THE INSTALLATION OCCURRED ON OCT/FRI/04.
