Narrative:

On aug/wed/04, I was assigned to change the evacuate/evacuation slide on door 1L for aircraft X as an engineering callout for time. After following maintenance manual procedures and completing installation, the aircraft was released for service. After flying for one day it was brought to my attention it was an inspection item. To prevent this problem from occurring again the maintenance manual should reflect that a slide replacement is an inspection item.
