Narrative:

On takeoff roll runway 9L, near V1 speed, aircraft made an abrupt 5 degree yaw to the left. Wind was called at 080 degrees/11 KTS. I corrected the yaw immediately and continued the rotation and liftoff. Captain directed leaving the gear extended as we suspected a tire or brake malfunction. Captain contacted tower to request a runway inspection and declared an emergency. Normal pattern was flown. Overweight landing briefing and checklist items were completed. Taxied clear and after fire department inspection, returned to gate for maintenance action.
