Narrative:

En route from punta gorda, fl (pgd) to albany, GA (aby) cruising at 1500 ft below a 2000 ft overcast, we approached zephyr hills (zph). I had trouble locating the unicom frequency on the sectional chart. While searching for the frequency, I saw something from the corner of my left eye. It was a cessna about 500 ft away on a converging course and about 50 ft above my altitude. I immediately initiated a right descending turn and passed well ahead and below the cessna. Thereafter, I was very careful to tune the unicom frequency of uncontrolled airports about 20 mi out to monitor activity and report my position until well past.
