Narrative:
I was following an instrument flight plan from hamilton, ny (H30) to st louis, mo (sus). Over cleveland at 8000 ft, I had a left and right alternator failure. Cleveland approach vectored me to cleveland hopkins cle and I landed at near mid-day. After 6 hours of repairs, it was difficult to taxi at the large, dark, unfamiliar field. Ground control said to take the orange taxi route. 'Orange' was not on my diagram. I told ground control that I needed progressive taxi instructions because it was dark and unfamiliar. Ground control said to take taxiway J to taxiway U and follow the jet in front of me. I focused on following the jet. In the act of following the jet in front of me, I crossed runway 24L on my way to runway 24R. It was dark and unfamiliar. Ground control told me to call the tower when I landed. I complied with the request. I deeply regret this runway crossing accidentally occurring.
