Narrative:

Trailing edge flap disagreement EICAS light on. On approach to mia the EICAS trailing edge flap light came on. The flaps would not extend beyond 20 degrees. Followed abnormal procedures then called maintenance. Declared an emergency and had equipment stand by. (I did not exceed any flap speeds.) made normal landing. I was told after the flight that I did not make any PA's or notify the flight attendants. I realized that I was using the bottom rocker switch on the yoke for all my normal and advisory PA's.
