Narrative:

My crew arrived quite late into las due to WX related delays in and out of ord. As instructed, I contacted the crew scheduler after checking into my room. I reached them at about XA55 to discuss the departure of our obviously late departure. The scheduler then asked me if we could depart on time (scheduled at XI15) to keep schedule integrity. After I exclaimed as to the time he was referring to, his response was, 'captain, I am required to ask all crews.' I then remarked about the legality of his suggestion, and he seemed indifferent. The crew scheduled should not be asking any crew to unknowingly or unwittingly violate FARS regarding minimum crew rest. Doesn't the crew desk computer automatically show the minimum rest time before the next day's flight? We departed at XL00 after our legal 9 hours at the hotel.
